The median income of Howell County residents was an inflation-adjusted $20,138 per year. Howell County had 16,204 households in 2017, with a population of 40,139.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Platte County. Platte County's median income was $38,008 per year after adjusting for inflation – $17,870 more than Howell County. It had 38,147 households in 2017 and a population of 96,899.
