Callaway County ranked 21st among counties in Missouri by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The median income of Callaway County residents was $28,863 per year, adjusted for inflation. It had 15,973 households with a population of 44,889.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Platte County with $39,879 per year after adjusting for inflation – $11,016 more than Callaway County. It had 39,305 households with a population of 100,682.

The county with the lowest median resident income in the state was Mississippi County with $14,973 per year after adjusting for inflation – $13,890 less than Callaway County. It had 5,026 households with a population of 13,574.
