Following FDIC Chair Marty Gruenberg's announcement regarding his pending resignation, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) has called for his immediate termination.
“The pending resignation of FDIC Chair Marty Gruenberg is long overdue, but it falls short of the decisive action needed to address the deep-seated issues plaguing the agency under his leadership. His tenure has been characterized by a blatant disregard for accountability, a politicized regulatory agenda, and a failure to uphold the integrity of the FDIC. Such rampant misconduct cannot be tolerated in an agency entrusted with safeguarding the stability and confidence of our financial system," said Congressman Luetkemeyer.
Chairman Gruenberg’s continued presence at the helm of the FDIC undermines public trust and jeopardizes the effectiveness of the agency. "His tentative resignation, while a step in the right direction, is insufficient to address the magnitude of the problems he has allowed to fester within the FDIC. The President must take decisive action to remove him from office and nominate a successor who will prioritize the safety and security of our financial institutions without succumbing to political pressures. I urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to join me in calling for Chairman Gruenberg’s immediate termination. The American people deserve leaders who will uphold the highest standards of accountability and integrity in protecting our financial system,” added Luetkemeyer.
