Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer has announced his retirement at the end of the 2024 session, according to a statement released today. Luetkemeyer, who represents Missouri's Third Congressional District, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve his constituents and the state.

“It has been an honor to serve the great people of the Third Congressional District and State of Missouri these past several years," said Luetkemeyer. "However, after a lot of thoughtful discussion with my family, I have decided to not file for re-election and retire at the end of my term in December."

Luetkemeyer, who has been in office since 2009, highlighted the importance of continuing to address the various challenges facing the country. He emphasized the role of the American people in shaping the nation's greatness, stating, "the greatness of our country is not found in the halls of Congress but in the hearts and homes of our people."

During his time in Congress, Luetkemeyer achieved significant legislative accomplishments. He collaborated with fellow Missouri representative Emmanuel Cleaver to pass a housing reform law and played a crucial role in combating fraud related to COVID relief programs. Additionally, he sponsored legislation honoring fallen servicemembers from the Third District.

Luetkemeyer has held key positions in several congressional committees, including the House Financial Services Committee, the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, and the House Small Business Committee. He expressed his commitment to serving his constituents until the end of his term, stating, "Over the coming months, as I finish up my last term, I look forward to continuing to work with all my constituents on their myriad of issues as well as work on the many difficult and serious problems confronting our great country."

As he prepares for retirement, Luetkemeyer expressed his enthusiasm for spending more time with his family in Missouri. He looks forward to cherishing moments with his wife, three children, and seven grandchildren.

Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer's retirement announcement marks the end of a distinguished political career dedicated to serving the people of Missouri. His contributions and achievements will leave a lasting impact on his constituents and the nation as a whole.
