Dallas DeWeese, a social studies teacher at Hollister Middle School in the Hollister R-V School District, has been awarded the Milken Educator Award. This national award recognizes outstanding educators and is often referred to as the "Oscars of Teaching."

Stephanie Bishop, Vice President of Milken Educator Awards and a former recipient from Virginia, praised DeWeese's contributions: “Dallas DeWeese has woven himself into the fabric of this school and community, leaving a permanent impact on the hearts and lives of every student he has had the opportunity to teach, coach, or mentor.” She added that his enthusiasm for education is evident in all he does.

Missouri's Commissioner of Education Dr. Karla Eslinger expressed excitement about DeWeese's recognition: “The work that Dallas does every day to care for and educate his students makes a difference not just in that student’s life but the lives of their families and the community as a whole.”

DeWeese employs a holistic educational approach by integrating various subjects into his social studies curriculum. His teaching methods include engaging activities like developing business plans and creating student governments. Beyond classroom instruction, DeWeese leads initiatives such as Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) at his school.

His educational background includes a bachelor's degree in physical education from College of the Ozarks and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction leadership from Evangel University.

Recipients of the $25,000 Milken Educator Award use their prize money for diverse purposes including continuing education or funding educational projects. They also gain access to mentorship opportunities through programs like Milken Friends Forever (MFF). An upcoming forum in Los Angeles will provide honorees with networking opportunities to enhance their impact on K-12 education.
