The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the State Board of Education are asking for public input as they work to update the statewide education strategic plan. The effort seeks feedback from a range of stakeholders, including families, community members, business leaders, and educators.

A survey has been launched to collect opinions on which areas should be prioritized in Missouri’s Pre-K-12 education strategy. The information gathered will help shape state education policies and initiatives over the coming years. DESE encourages all interested parties to participate in the survey before the deadline at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025.

According to DESE, responses are anonymous and confidential. The survey is available online and is designed to take less than ten minutes to complete.

“This survey is an important part of our work to ensure we hear different perspectives and voices while considering revisions to our strategic plan,” said Commissioner of Education Dr. Karla Eslinger. “This is the first step in updating our priorities and a vital step in our efforts to support services to ensure quality education across the state for all of our students.”

The previous version of the strategic plan can be reviewed on DESE’s Strategic Planning webpage.
