Eight Missouri schools have been named as 2025 Gold Star Schools by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). The recognition is given to schools that show strong academic achievement or perform at high levels while serving a large number of disadvantaged students. The Gold Star Schools program aligns with the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program, which is run by the U.S. Department of Education.

The schools recognized for 2025 are: Collegiate School of Medicine and Bioscience in St. Louis Public Schools; Conway Elementary in Ladue School District; East Elementary in Ozark School District; Eugene Field Elementary in Poplar Bluff School District; Green Forest Elementary in Green Forest R-II School District; James Walker in Blue Springs School District; Marion County Elementary in Marion County R-II Schools; and Steam Academy Middle School in Ferguson-Florissant School District.

“Congratulations to the students, teachers, and staff members at each of these schools for earning this recognition,” said Commissioner of Education Dr. Karla Eslinger. “These schools demonstrate that academic excellence is possible while striving to help their students find their path to success. We’re so proud of their hard work.”

The Missouri Gold Star Schools program was started in 1991 and follows the same nomination criteria as the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program. The announcement for this year’s National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education will take place later this fall.
